Accepting Jesus Christ

Spiritually Seeking
No matter what your spiritual background, no matter what you believe (or don't) about God, at certain points in our lives, we sense the presence of God. How we respond to God at these crossroads marks the direction our journey takes. The Bible says: "seek and you shall find." Perhaps you are at one of those proverbial faith forks in the road of life. By looking here, you are most likely seeking with an open heart and mind. Many educated people have discovered God's love and after honest, in-depth investigations discovered that it takes more faith to not believe than it does to believe!
Horizon Community Church wants to help you on your faith journey. Feel free to pick up a free Bible at a Weekend Service. We also have literature on the tables around the building that you can take and read through at your convenience. The resources page on this website will link you to information via the net that will help you also. We want to encourage you to keep seeking after God. We believe God loves you and is even seeking after you. The following pictures and statements will help you better understand how to place your trust in Jesus Christ.
We are looking for hope, meaning, real life and security.

There seems to be a huge gap between our desire to experience hope, meaning, real life and security and actually experiencing these things in life. We try to fill this gap with various experiences, good deeds, religion, partying and even self promotion, yet still the emptiness remains and the huge gap exist.

God, who loves us and desires to be involved in our lives sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to provide the way for us to discover and experience hope, meaning, real life, eternal life and security. God had provided for us because He loves us very much.
We, as individuals must choose to trust in God's provision, Jesus Christ, and make the decision to rely on God. We then can experience hope, meaning, real and eternal life and security.

You Think You Are Ready
You've been checking into this idea of Jesus, the Christian faith, for a while now. In fact, if you had been this diligent in your college courses, who knows where you would be right now!
As best as you can understand all of this, you believe you are ready to begin following Jesus as your Leader and Forgiver. Just one thing: you're not sure what to do! Don't fret; this is extremely common. We'd love to help.
You have come to a point where you need to act on your new found belief. Your adoption into God's family is just a prayer away. It can't get any easier than that! The best thing you can do is talk with a friend who is a Christian, and ask them to pray with you. Or call Horizon at 757-488-6339 and someone on our pastoral staff will be thrilled to talk and pray with you. You can also pray in the quiet of where you are, by yourself. And it can be a simple prayer. Something like:

Dear Jesus,
I admit that I have sinned. I have done harmful and hurtful things to others and to you. Please forgive me. I believe that you are the Son of God, and that you became a human to be a bridge from God the Father to us. Because of you, my sins can be forgiven and I can be adopted by God. Jesus, that is my desire. Please forgive my sins and become the leader of my life. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for forgiving me. And thank you for what you have in store for my life.
Amen.

If you have just prayed this prayer for the first time, let someone know: a Christian friend, family member or someone at Horizon. Please take a moment and call the office at 757-488-6339. This will be as exciting for them as it is for you. We are excited for you and God is rejoicing over you and your decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ.
